| After the wall fell, Berlin's bohemians settled in the former East German neighborhood of Prenzlauer Berg, living in illegal lofts and partying in secret unlicensed bars and clubs, helping to define the "Wild East" days of Berlin. Gentrification has taken its course, but despite the high rents and nouveau bourgeois, "Prenzl Berg" as it's affectionately known, remains indisputably hip. |
